Other Dates — Privacy Policy

Other Dates does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal data. There are no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no third-party services of any kind.

What the app accesses, and why

Contacts. With your permission, Other Dates reads the contact lists you choose and the custom date fields on those contacts (for example "First Met" or "Work Anniversary"). This is the app's core function: turning those dates into calendar events. Contact data is read on your device and is never sent anywhere.

Calendars. With your permission, Other Dates creates and maintains yearly events in the calendars you choose. Events are written through Apple's EventKit on your device; where they sync (for example iCloud) is governed entirely by your own calendar account settings.

What stays on your device

The app keeps a small local database that remembers which contact dates map to which calendar events. It never leaves your device, and it can be rebuilt at any time from your contacts and calendars.

iCloud key-value storage

To warn you when more than one of your devices is creating events, the app stores a small heartbeat record (a device name and a timestamp) in the iCloud key-value storage of your own Apple account. Only your devices can read it. The developer has no access to it.

Diagnostics

The in-app activity log and the diagnostics export exist for your own troubleshooting. Nothing is uploaded automatically; a diagnostics file leaves your device only if you explicitly share it, and contact names are redacted from the log by default.

Children

Other Dates does not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new "last updated" date.
